Please Use Caution

Please remember to lock doors. Be aware of vehicles or persons who don’t belong in the area – get vehicle/driver descriptions and license plate numbers of suspicious vehicles and contact the Teller County Sheriff’s Department (719-687-9652) with that information. Of course, call 911 if you see a crime in progress. Don’t try to do any police work yourself – just be a careful witness. Stay in contact with neighbors to know when they’re out – keep an eye on their place and let trusted friends know when you’ll be gone. It may be information from YOU that puts the bad guys out of business.

If anyone in Indian Creek has break-in or vandalism problems, notify the Sheriff.

Unwanted Mineral Collectors in Indian Creek

The “PROSPECTOR” show on the Weather Channel continues to focus attention on mineral collecting in the Lake George and Florissant area. If you have trespassers on your property trying to dig mineral specimens, they should be advised that mineral collecting trespass is prohibited with the possibility of arrest. The Sheriff’s office can be contacted at 719-687-9652 if the people do not leave immediately.

Collecting by digging in roads or road rights of way is also prohibited by law and by common sense as vehicle traffic on gravel roads has less ability to dodge persons in the road than on pavement. Digging in easement shoulders requires a specific written permit from the County or State along with approved traffic warning devices and personnel.
